Brat's are one of my favorite summer foods. I have them nearly every weekend with a nice cold micro brew.

I'd be a lot more worried about the monosodium glutamate....very dangerous stuff.

    Interesting you should mention this....

I am considering some supplementation for my wife to help her body rid itself of the excess estrogen rather than recycle it.

    1.Calcium d-glucarate
    2. Dim
    3. Linoleic acid

I need you to help me tweak her a "Methylation Stack" to work along with the list above.

    I am thinking:

    1. Milk Thistle
    2. B-Complex
    3. SAM
    4. Magnesium
    5. methionine
    6. TMG

What say you on the topic of improving methylation HAN ?

Fighting estrogen dominance can be a bumpy road. John Lee coined the term and helped us women understand the need for more progesterone when it starts to fall. But I think 'estrogen dominance' can be very confusing. In the end, a woman learns she must stay away from almost everything including make up, hair products, detergents, foods....the list goes on and on and replacing these things with items from a health store does not usually help because lavender, tea tree, and a whole host of other herbal type substances are estrogenic. I drove myself crazy trying to avoid xenoestrogens.

Finally, I read a book by Dr Uzzi Reiss, who has been helping women balance hormones for over 20 years and he says it is very rare to see a woman who has too high estrogen levels. In fact, he frequently sees blood work showing them too low more often than too high. This goes for premenopausal women too. He believes stress drives estrogen too low in many of us.

It is when progesterone drops too low that even a little estrogen can wreak havoc. So I may be slow, but I finally figured out what estrogen dominance means - simply not enough progesterone to balance. Once progesterone is restored to healthful levels, I think a woman may not need to send herself nuts avoiding everything. I do think we should be wise and not slather ourselves in parabens and other carcinogens and choose foods carefully without hosts of additives but I don't read every ingredient on every product I buy anymore.

I know there is much debate on this subject. I've been on both sides of of it and I've landed in the place where I supplement both P and E even though I am still pretty far away from menopause.

Dim and iodine can help ensure estrogen breaks down into enough E3 for better protection so taking those can help. Vitex is great too. Love it for breast tenderness.

I actually found a lab that can measure for all these toxins. I get physicians cost so I be curious how loaded I am.

Bro you are on track but not knowing what pathways are upregulated or down regulated one can make matters worse. I am going to start doing more gene testing. Actual from now on every irish, angelo, american imdian, are going to be tested for mthfrr because I am seeing a huge increase in mutations in people that are driven by pushing the cellular matrix flicking the cancer switches. i have caught this in numerous of people that slipped through the crack of traditional medicine.

PPC it is good to see you on here again...I havent seen you post for a while.

I was hoping you might see this.

We did have a few questions for you since you have been down this road before. Her doc told her to get OTC progesterone cream.

Is there a particular brand of progesterone or different form that absorbs better?

What is a good all around dosage?

When did you start to see improvements?

Will her memory ever come back and is there anything that will help her with it?

It is funny that you mentioned breast tenderness because after a week of progesterone she is getting tender.

HAN do you have to be a doc to order these tests or can anyone??? You can PM me if you dont want to mention the name of the lab.

I need to learn about estrogen pathways badly. As I understand it there are three and two are bad.

Thanks for your help bro. She is feeling better on straight prog already but I really dont want too much e2 sitting around waiting to turn into something bad for her.

We are going to try the route of PPC and try to force conversion into estriol with proper supplementation.

If you have any good recommendations on improving methylation I need to do that myself via supplements or detox. Which ever you think is better

Just as precaution all females patients tested on progesterone are also tested for estrogen metabolites as well. genova pay assure plan is 79 bucks and well worth it.

Hey, I mostly stay in my lurking hovel but can't help but post now and then when it's a question like this. And I am too long winded as you will notice with this post.

When you say your wife has been diagnosed with estrogen dominance were there blood tests to confirm that? Those results would be interesting. What symptoms/issues is she having that are estrogen dominant related. I think I could help more if I knew those.

I saw some success with over the counter progesterone cream but my problems (and they were major) did not get better until I used much stronger progesterone. My major problems were very heavy periods and mid cycle bleeding to where I spent most of my life bleeding. Horrible. I had a very short cycle too and otc P added maybe a day to that but nothing more. Surgery didn't help. When I started adding vaginal progesterone at 100 mg 10 days a month, things turned around. I develped normal periods, intense breast pain went away and my cycle lenghtened to a perfect 28/29 days. I still like to use otc progest on my breasts though.

I think if your wife is younger than me, (I'm 39) she may do well on an over the counter preparation. The best one that I have used is Emerita progest. I hope I can say brands here. Emerita has no parabens and contains I think 2.5 % progesterone. As we age, usually a stronger progesterone is needed but anything higher than 3% requires a prescription. Another good otc one is Progesterall. This is endorsed by John Lee's people.

A good dose is about a quater of a teaspoon which is roughly 20 mg once to twice a day. I would go for twice. Usually one supplements right around or after ovulation and goes through till their period starts.

It will be good for your wife to apply to both fatty areas like thighs, inner, upper arms and breasts and also thin skinned areas like wrists and face. (It is an amazing winkle fighter as is estriol.) This would ensure that she is getting both quick absorbtion from thin skin and sustained release from the fatty areas where it stays longer.

When women first start on progesterone, estrogen dominant symptoms like breast tenderness can be worse for the first month or so when receptors start opening up and then they should get a lot better. As I mentioned, vitex seems to have it's own progesterone like effect on the female body. I now take it throughout my whole cycle.

You know, if your wife struggles with libido, I don't know if P will help that situation even though P is so neccessary for her health. P seems to eat up E and T, atleast it does so in me. Your wife could trial using some estriol cream on the labia area. It is safe, easily available and can help restore and charge up vaginal tissue. It is excellent when applied to the face also to help flood the body with more E3. Can she tolerate small amounts of dhea? I would suggest no more than 10 mg at first. This hopefully will cross over and give her some T.

Brain fog: Is there any possiblity that your wife is also low in estrogen because estrogen is actually what makes a woman's mind sharp. You guys needn't be afraid of E2 so long as it is balanced nicely with enough P. What is your wife's natural body shape? Women with greater bust, hip ratios naturally have more estrogen and they need every bit of it. Smaller breasted women often feel fine with much smaller amounts, the difference in natural ratios between women can be sevefold. If E2 were the big evil then women in their twenties would be getting breast cancer. It is when women lose thier E2 and start making lots of estrone (E1) in their fat rather than from their ovaries that breast cancer starts appearing. It is a similar principle to prostate cancer in men and declining testosterone levels. Yes, E2 is potent but it has such an important role to play in females. I tried using small doses of adex once to reduce my E2 and my moods went south. It was almost like being on the birth control pill after a few months doing that. E2 makes us happy. It just always needs to be tempered by P.

Here's the breakdown. We need E2. No need to lower it but yes, stay away from foreign estrogens ie; birth control pills. E2 will always break down into E1 and E3. We want more E3. E3 is the protective estrogen of pregnancy. We can help this along with some of the things you mentioned like dim, calcium d glucarate and iodine as in a couple of drops of lugols.

A lack of thyroid causes brain fog. Any t3 and t4 results?

What about undenatured whey for help with methalation? Whey has the highest amounts of glutathione of all foods which you know aids in methylation. Jay Robb and Mercola have good products. I wouldn't use any that use any other sweetener than stevia or that are heated too high.

    Best wishes to your wife.
